Our Mission

In working towards the Vision espoused in the core values, the BEES Network has set for itself the following Mission:

To amplify collaborations among enterprises & organizations representing disadvantaged women producers in South Asia, through knowledge sharing & unlocking market opportunities.

  • The BEES Network will engage with disadvantaged women to level the playing field for accessing economic opportunities. The Network recognizes that women producers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have differing levels of access to information, knowledge, capital, and networks. While it envisions a transformation in the socio-economic status of all South Asian women, the BEES Network has chosen to focus on disadvantaged women producers. The BEES Network defines disadvantaged women producers as those who have no or limited opportunities to access the resources necessary to scale their businesses, and those who will continue to face this lack of access unless there is a specific intervention to improve such access.

  • The BEES Network will work towards building the capacity of women producers through knowledge sharing; and will enable them to access regional market opportunities. Women-owned businesses in the region remain informal and limited in scale largely due to a lack of access to markets and limited skills. The BEES Network will leverage its collective knowledge to further understand, identify and address the capacity-building needs of women producers, provide them with access to markets, and support them to eventually move up the value chains. Access to markets will be provided through traditional and/or modern channels, such as integration with regional and global bulk buyers and market aggregators, strengthening linkages with existing physical markets, establishment of e-commerce linkages, and through social commerce channels. Being gender-sensitive is at the core of the Network’s efforts and all programming will put women and their needs at the centre.
